Physical therapy is an important component in the health care realm. Physical therapy is known to help increase muscle strength, improve balance, improve mobility, and help the body heal more efficiently and effectively after surgery and/or prolonged periods of inactivity.
The modalities offered for physical therapy has some of the same ones offered in athletic training. This is because the difference between physical therapy and athletic training is the population and the goals of the population. Physical therapy is more geared towards the general public while athletic trainingspecifically targets athletes. The goal of physical therapy is typically improving daily activities and returning to normal function. Athletic training is geared towards improving in a specific sport and exceeding normal function.
